This project started out as 2 re-recordings, Tearing Reality and Influx.
These 2 songs meant a lot to us when we wrote them and we felt like we never got them quite right trying to record these big ideas with just a Focusrite interface and 1 year or so experience using entry level recording equipment.
The idea went from 2 to 12, 14 then 20 eventually ending at 24 songs being rerecorded from a similar point in time, all in what we refer to as the 'hyper era' where we recorded 4 albums, Hyper Reality, Hyper Realism, Liquid State and Hyper Reality from 2014 to 2016. We were learning how to record and write music whilst practicing these 'demo' albums is what that practice led to.
We've cherry picked our favourite songs from these projects, some being faithfully recreated other radically changed and transformed into songs that embody the original idea we had at the time. When we listened to the old versions, we thought of what we were trying to do, more than what we did.
A lot of projects like our original demos, are quietly taken down never to be heard again, the songs forgotten to time, only if the artist breaks into the mainstream will appear on Discogs for mega fans to discover.
Hyper Reality will be released in 4, 6 song EPs, forming a volume 1 and 2 for physical releases, the total 24 track version being a final digital double album release.
It's really rewarding being able to go back and listen to what you played 12 years ago, and this project is for us back then, sounding like we wish we did.
If only we could go back like Bill and Ted did and show our 17 year old selves what we could or should have sounded like. -

The album is packed full of 2000s guitar riffs, shimmering delays and punchy yet insightful choruses. A seismic shift in direction from the last AOR inspired project Straightaways, IHCSAFM is about capturing the essence of what Mark & Peter like about 2000s rock music. From the raw war torn shuffled guitar licks on Chameleon to the open wide stereo horizon on Clouds In The Ocean, the band pack a variety of sounds and styles into the fold.
